This week, a group of Penan students visited the farm to learn more about organic/sustainable agriculture.
Nor, one of our women farmers, conducted the educational farm tour and explained the processes used on the farm. It was great watching the sense of pride shown by our OA as they shared farming knowledge!
It was also a week of lessons in sustainable farming as we troubleshot pressing issues on the farm involving:
- inadequate number of male participants on the farm
- rainy weather
- weak leadership
- team work – communication problems, role uncertainties, and lack of interdependence in the group
It was a good session as the OA learned to communicate more openly and to brainstorm solutions. Positive outcomes included clear definition of roles and the emergence of clearer leadership within the group.
